Roland S. Martin says that we should put Christ back into Christmas. That instead of happy holidays is should be merry Christmas. No more holiday tree only Christmas tree. Martin thinks that this political correctness is absurd. Martin does not discriminate against anyone but the holiday season is meant for Christ. This is a time of love and joy we shouldn't be fighting we should united.
I COMPLETELY DISAGREE (except the unity part). It is only fair to mention all the holidays by saying happy holidays. Why should we exclude any religion or even over emphasize some religion. The name "holiday season" doesn't exclude anyone and doesn't emphasize anyone either. And what is wrong with that.
I think the Martin along with his supporters are being elitist. They think that since Christianity is the largest religion and has been celebrated in America the longest it should be emphasized that it’s the Christmas season not the Holiday season. I strongly believe that each holiday during the holiday season is EQUALY IMPORTANT. Yes I am saying that no matter which religion is older or celebrated by ore people.

I think a lot of people have forgotten why people came to America: RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. One of the best things about the US is that I don't have to follow the same religion as everyone else, or any religion at all for that matter. It's scary that some people like Roland here are so regressive that they would take us back to the way things were before. Next on his list, religious persecution. Where are we going to run then? Conclusion, I completely agree with you.
Although parts of your argument seem reasonable, I would have to disagree with the fact that Christ should not be involved in Christmas. Christmas actually exists only because of Christ.
Saying Merry Christmas can be meant to say Merry Christmas alone, not to represent any other holiday. There are many other names for other holidays that can be used.
However, one reason why I can agree with you, is the fact that many times, you may not know what religion someone may be. In that case, HAPPY HOLIDAYS would be much more convenient and may save some offense.
